Project Spotlight: How We Successfully Appealed a Denied Roof Insurance Claim

Wondering What to Do If Insurance Denied Your Roof Claim? Here’s Why You Should Call Anchor Roofing

At Anchor Roofing, we understand homeowners navigating the process of filing a roof insurance claim can be highly stressful. Not only is it daunting to talk to your insurance provider and sort out what actions to take and when, but you must do all of this while knowing your roof could be compromised by storm damage. Plus, if your roof insurance claim is denied, it can be tough to know what to do next.

For today’s Project Spotlight, the Anchor Roofing team is sharing the story of a job where our thorough inspection process helped these homeowners get a second look at their claim.* Our goal is to ensure damage is properly assessed and repaired, and we’re always ready to help homeowners in their time of need. Let’s take a look at this project.

Background & Client: Homeowners in Elkhorn

Our clients for this project were a husband and wife living in Elkhorn, where we serve as one of the area’s top roofing companies. These clients hadn’t worked with Anchor Roofing in the past, but they were referred to us by their insurance agent, who recommended getting an inspection before filing.

Many homeowners may not realize it, but typically the best course of action following potential storm damage is to schedule an inspection with a professional roofer. This will help to avoid denied and unpaid claims, as the purpose of insurance adjusters is not to determine if roof damage occurred in the first place.

We regularly get referrals this way, as we’re well-known in the area for our thorough and detailed inspection process and our transparency in collecting evidence for roof damage.

The Challenge: A Denied Insurance Claim

Unfortunately, these clients had already filed for the hail damage claim and been denied, which meant getting their claim through would require further documentation and evidence. This left them wondering what they could do next following their denied insurance claim for roof damage.

Typically, the process in these cases requires scheduling a re-inspection so that the insurance carrier can get a new set of eyes on the property and assess the damage.

Our Solution: Building a Stronger Case microscope images showing hail damage to a roof

Our team then visited their property to complete an inspection and help to build their case for storm damage. We brought a specialized tool to take closeup images of the roof. This tool can create highly magnified images that would reveal the nature of damage to the roof, including broken fibers and damage to matting that could only have occurred due to hail. We compiled these and other photos into a highly detailed report and then sent them to the carrier. The report contained more than 250 photos, including more than 50 closeup images to fully detail damage to the roof.

Ultimately, the provider approved the homeowners’ claim after reviewing our photos and opted not to even re-inspect the property before reversing their decision.

The Result: A Brand-New Roof Ready for the Next Storm

The homeowners were able to get approval for a full roof replacement, as well as coverage for gutters and damage to windows. Our team worked to fully replace their roof following the claim approval, installing new Malarkey Vista AR shingles in Black Oak. This color was a perfect compromise for both the husband, who wanted to keep the original black color, and the wife, who wanted something with a bit more color.

In the end, the full replacement was completed without a hitch, and our clients couldn’t be happier with the results of both the insurance claim and the new roof. We were happy to help!
